Work with me
I offer individual and couples therapy both in person and virtually.
◗ Virtual Consultation
As I realize fit can be very important to therapeutic success, a 30 minute consultation can be booked to determine if you would like to work with me. In this call, we can review any questions or concerns that you might have prior to starting the therapeutic relationship. This call is tailored to you with no expectation, the focus is to meet you where you are at and to explore if my services would support you in meeting your goals.
◗ New Client Appointment
Our first meeting will be focused on collaboration, as it is most important for me to understand how I can be supportive to you in meeting your goals. We will go over a specific series of questions that will help me in understanding your presenting problems, symptoms you might be experiencing and most importantly, your goals for therapy. We will work to develop a collaborative and meaningful plan to support you in reaching the goals you are presenting. I also like to create space for understanding things that are working or have worked for you in the past. Being intentional about focusing on strengths and solutions is a part of the process and creating space for that in our first session together is important. Lastly, this appointment also allows for time and space to ask any questions you might have for me or about the therapeutic process in general.
◗ Individual Therapy
The majority of subsequent appointment time is considered individual therapy. An outside perspective can be useful in identifying barriers to meeting your goals. I will infuse evidenced based practices, including but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to support skill building as part of our sessions. Ongoing support can be useful in so many ways, as it allows you time and space to develop skills to support you in reaching your goals and holds you accountable to follow through. In sessions, we can problem solve and determine solutions to barriers that might be impacting your success. We will also review successes, however small they might feel, as a way to support strength building.
◗ Couples Therapy
Sessions with couples will be focused on problem solving relational concerns that are negatively impacting the relationship. Skills reviewed are typically focused on, but not limited to, communication improvement, conflict resolution, and boundary setting. Progress and barriers are reviewed by each partner in session. Barriers to progress are openly discussed and problem solving around overcoming these barriers occurs in session. It is often helpful to have a mediator and neutral party present to support the couple in navigating challenges and creating space forward to improve connection, which in turn increases relationship satisfaction.
